DD2 + Inferno ( Welcome )
« on: September 08, 2016, 09:26:33 pm »
Hello , i would like to suggest one thing about the servers, as when the server is live we got 32/32, so basically you can put the redirect ( transfer player) to other server (inferno), because when the server full no one can join it.
But when it will be full then all players will be automatically transferred to inferno server.

So we will have nearly 2 servers full :)))))

Anyone agree with this or anyones opinion ??? You are much welcome !!!!

@Ed already tried that with Fy&Aim server but it was a big failure. The server remained empty and it was a pain in the ass since it was a click bait ..

But we could give it a try since it's the same mod.

True but If they would make it same as it was before(steam/nonsteam) so everyone could be able to join and also do some changes, add  multiple maps like (de_westwood,de_nuke etc) and rename it to Public, it'll become more interesting.

thats right, fy was always empty, as pringles says. if someone will play DD2 and is redirect to inferno, he stays only as long as a slot on DD2 becomes free. So inf never get full. only theoretically
Another idea, but i think it isĀ“nt possible.  Synchonize both server. so that always on one is dd2 on the other inf. and they change always @ the same time between those 2 maps. but then both servers are no longer "dd or inf only" servers

But we can make Public server not inferno ! Anyway inferno always empty

Just try to make Public server with some maps (max 5 , nuke, train, inferno,ww ,cbble) .

give a chance and will see that happens from it, just save the inferno server in case if Public will fail then always we can change back on inferno only ;)

The thing is Ron already tried to set it up like that after we change fy-aim to inferno only. Same effect, players don't seem to stay there hence why this doesn't work and was scrapped due to us losing a player slot and also admin inconvenience when you are trying to join the server when it's full you can't set it to auto retry when a slot opens, instead it just keeps directing you to the other server. Too many drawbacks for something what didn't work.

We are going to change the inferno slightly, but to get players in there it needs boosting, which currently we don't really want to do yet, or trying not to.

I recall a plugin (?) which would direct you to a second server if the first server you tried joining was full, it would then automatically direct you back to the first server when a slot opened up.

> join dd2 32/32
> directed to public server with message "you'll automatically join dd2 server when a slot opens up, you can cancel this by typing /xxx command."
> joins dd2 server at 31/32

As to the server itself, I would recommend something other then a classic map server. It's always the same, dd2 has 32 players, *map changes to nuke*, 15 players..
A classic map servers playerbase is unstable and will require a shitload of boosts..

Sounds sick to me, would you be able to do it?
If yes, that'd be splendid!

xredirect you mean. It has certain settings etc. There are 2 main problems with this and why it was removed as we tried it:
1st, if you are an admin and you have been called you constantly get redirected instead of waiting when slot opens. We could counter this by giving admin slots but then we lose server rank due to slots being reserved by the xredirect and possible admin reservation slots.
2nd is that it is not allowed to use redirection of any kind for a boosted server. If we use it, our server gets an instant ban and we cannot boost it anymore via that host.

To be fair, we are not bothered about it, due to having too many cons than pros. Opening another CS 1.6 server is a bit of a no no right now as we don't really feel like doing so as it is wasted money most of the time.
