As we all know, you guys and myself of course are PC gamers, mostly FPS gamers, so basically I want each of you guys to post his or her system's specifications, what you mostly use your computer for and if you are, what you are planning to upgrade in the near future.

Post in the following form:

CPU: Example: Intel Core i5 2500 @3.3 GHz, Also known as Central Processing Unit, won’t go into technical ****, but basically the faster this thing is, the faster your PC will be and more responsive

Motherboard: Example: ASUS P8P67 Pro, The anchor of all the system’s data flow, it interconnects every component in you system and it’s where you basically plug most of your **** (In desktops at least, in laptops its same issue but less obvious).

RAM: Example: 16 GB Corsair vengeance 1600MHz (2x8 GB), Random Access Memory is called a “volatile” memory, it is used by the PC when you first turn it on, and empties when you turn it off. It stores information on current running programs and access to it is faster than accessing the hard disk drives (and no you can’t open them like any hard disk). To test RAM and see how they work, restart your computer, open a program and record how much time it took, close it then reopen it again, it will take less time to open compared to when you opened it the first time.

Power-Supply: Example: XFX Pro series 850W, it’s the device that powers your systems components by converting your main’s power into PC power (220V/110V ~ 3.3V/5V/12V, but I won’t go into details here obviously)

Graphics card(s): Example: MSI Radeon HD7950, a graphics card has a GPU (Graphical processing unit) which I won’t go into technical details here, but know that the faster this thing is, the better you will be able to run games.

Boot drive: Example: Crucial M4 256GB SSD, That’s the device where your operating system is, just like that, where you find the “windows” folder is (or the “root” folder for any Fedora or Linux Debian users)

Storage drive(s): Example: 1 TB Hitachi 7200 rpm 16mb Cache, Any drives that are different than your boot drive.

Optical drive: Example: LG blue ray drive, it’s a DVD drive or Blu-ray drive or whatever of the sort. Simply put, the thing that reads your CDs and DVDs (or for the rich folks, your Blu-ray Disks )

Chassis: Example: CoolerMaster Cosmos II, Your metal or plastic case, the cover for your system’s components, or simply put, the box that you see and where the system components are put inside.

Display(s): Your monitor, or simply put, the screen where you are reading this here text (if we neglect the possibility of you reading this on phone or not on your pc)

Mouse: Your mouse…

Keyboard:  The thing with keys and that clicks…

Sound Device(s): Example: Logitech G930 wireless headset, the device you use to listen to things when on your computer.

PC usage purpose: Example: gaming, rendering, image processing, voice engineering etc…

Planned upgrades: Example: I want to get a new graphics card. What do you guys suggest I get ?

Code: [Select]

Motherboard:
RAM:
Power-Supply:
Graphics card(s):
Storage drive(s):
Optical drive:
Chassis:
Display(s):

Keyboard:

PC usage purpose:

Q: How to get exact model numbers and specifications?

I noticed many cannot figure out the details of their systems so here is a small guide on how to know what your computer is. Whether it's because you never bothered or simply because you don't know, here is how you can see how to check the components:

CPU, motherboard and RAM can be checked using a simple neat software called CPU-Z (Credit goes to CPUID, which is the company and group of developers that made it):

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Graphics cards using this GPU-Z developed by the developers of Techpowerup forums :

http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2198/techpowerup-gpu-z-v0-6-7/

Power-supply, chassis and Optical drives ( some Optical drives can but not all ) cannot be known through software, and thus you need to look to the actual thing itself to know ( or obviously the receipt if you bought it yourself )

You can show off your specifications of your computer, and you can also ask for hardware help here !

Anyways, the Nvidia 700 series's are soon to come out, so depending on your budget why don't you take a look at those?
Also, for amd, maybe upgrade to a 7970 if you've got the cash and want to rape every game there is :D

RAM: 2gb ddr2 800 mhz
Power-Supply: Don't know.
Graphics card(s): Nbidia 8600 GT 512mb DDR2 ( PC CAN STILL RUN MW3 ON EXTRA , NO SHADOWS )
Storage drive(s): 260GB 7200RPM , forgot brand
Optical drive: I don't even need one , and I don't know lol.

Display(s): LG Flatron 19 Inch 1440x900
Mouse: MS basic v2.0 800 DPI
Keyboard: Philips Basic keyboard
Sound Device(s): Canyon headsets , Planning for a logitech.

PC usage purpose: Mostly used for gaming , good performance for games upto 2012 except for BF3 ( 20 FPS on med with shadows VERY LOW and FAA to OFF , GTA IV - Everything low 35 FPS 1280x720 RES / 1440x900 12-22 , 800x600 55 - 70 , DayZ ( Arma 2 ) - Very low settings 20 fps , High - 10 , Very High with 100000 Visibility 2 FPS :P , )

Have a gaming motherboard Intel GD31PR x16 LANE supports 4 GB max ram ( Something i don't like ) Can support any latest GPU except for GTX 680. Heard it can handle GTX 550 TI Perfectly , i need to find out PSU of my Motherboard , if you know any softwares tell me , cause I don't want to open my PC again.

Thinking of upgrading RAM to 4gb 800 MHZ DDR2 (cheap) , GT 630 4GB ( Someone is selling it really cheap , around 310 DHS which is 54 pounds , or just go for GT 8800 if i can find one.

This PC was a 75% gaming PC back in 2008.

I never wrote this much.

My new case arrived this morning.
I was looking for matx case which supported USB 3.0, was small and had decent cable managment options.
Took an hour to build, but this was the end result :P
My new GPU the Radeon 7790 hasn't arrived yet and was supposed to arrive today so I put my old GTS 450 in there till it arrives.

EDIT: Added another coolermaster blue led fan to the system in order to keep temps as low as possible.
