Time comes and goes? The future?
« on: November 06, 2018, 08:16:30 pm »
Hello there my fellow ambrosians just popped into say Hi and see how well this place is doing, after spending approximately a week logging into forums looking at the activity and surfing through archives and old announcement posts made me kinda sad and feel bad for this place,it's looking bleak and pretty bad forum activity wise..if I'm not wrong we get 10 posts a week maybe more correct me if I'm wrong..hell.. I remember two years back when I was about to leave people said the place is dying and people are leaving obviously and it's normal people come and go and need to move on with their lifes but to me this seems to a whole new level of dead,I know from reading posts people have stepped up and taken over Ambrosia and didn't let it die which I gladly appreciate and a big thank you to them but what's the future for Ambrosia community?I just want to hear what people think kind of a rant about what could be done better and what's this place missing from let's say a year or two back it's just sad to see once so active places like the forums has become dead..hey maybe the whole "forums" thing has become dead in the internet world but yeah would like to also here the owners what do they think about Ambrosia and it's future.I know I'm in no position to judge or say something bad or negative since I never done anything for this place and I've been gone for almost two years but yeah would love to hear everyone out on what's their opinion

let's rant.  :)

Get the hell outta here.

On a serious note, most games the last 10 years do not really work community-wise, hell, most games don't even allow dedicated servers anymore. Ambrosia has a name, a history, so no matter what, there'll always be someone who will login just to see an old arguement or if there's still any hope left. Depending on what the management here decide to do, it may still be able to stand for a couple of years tops, but I am afraid we are just delaying it, unless suddenly a Game-Of-The-Year shows up and supports awesome dedicated servers, which I doubt.

What's interesting to me is that there's always around 70 users who logged in the past 7 days, not bots, actual users. So I don't think the community is quite dead yet.

Imo ambrosia should go back to what it used to be, 1.6 jailbreak and possibly few more 1.6 and csgo servers.
Jailbreak is what made ambrosia popular, i remember back in 2015/2016 i couldnt join the server because it was always full.
I alone had 30k minutes of playtime on jb server, i still remember the /time command. good times. just goes to show how active the server was.
Even in 2017 there was a small period when jb was really popular.

Anyways, I think ambrosia should go back to its 2015 self,  tf2 server obviously failed and i dont have much hope for condition zero.

Hello there

I know the community have been struggling, and have been based on old games since it's creation
we are doing our best to expand it, taking the next step to other popular games, no spoiler but new content is really on the way

If it can be kept for archive reasons, that'd be great.
Other than that, there is really no core in this community, not after sami left. While i don't want to spread pessimistic feelings, you can't keep putting dirt under the rug forever.
It's nice, we all made friends and connections that ambrosia mediated and as such we have kept those that were most dear to us. If anything i'd suggest migrating to discord since that doesn't cost any money to operate and can just be used as an archive server to copypaste threads in there.

If you want my 2 cents on what happened:
The vision and motivation was lost for keeping a community operating on a dead game which other games have filled in the void with people having better machines and other choices to play, caused a natural death of one of many counter strike communities. You might be wondering why neondragon still has a thing is because people there paid and invested their earnings for those benefits and would prefer to invest in the same thing than move on, but they also have been declining from what they once were. It didn't help that ownership of ambrosia in general was switched and sold very frequently that made it pretty decentivizing for those people that formed mutual connections to gain some kind of position only to see it lost because someone else stepped in that was close to the new buyer. It didn't help that the enforcement of rules and snitching over people caused lot of big scars that divided the community in groups that operated on labeling and splintering that tried to form satellites of ambrosia  just to spit at it. While most of these reasons were pretty stupid and quite not very revealing why a community such as this died, it contributed to shortening the lifespan in comparison with communities where the core was always there even when they were officially absent. Think of having a throne but with a very bad king that didn't quite show leadership.

Im not sure what y'all talking about dead cs communities, but a couple months ago, csgo servers alone were not only popular, but also profitable.

Hey, I've been in your shoes multiples times @Timmer|Lv even within this community and i appreciate you raising the question. Where is ambrosia going?

Personally i've always wanted ambrosia to do more, I contributed before with an attempt to start up an arma 3 server which unfortunately didn't go through.
Ambrosia has always primarily been a CS / CSGO community and while we still wish to run these servers, I belive it is time ambrosia moves on.

With CSGO Servers being ran by capeable managers it leaves me in a position to think ahead~ What could i possibly do in order to not only bring in a new clientell~ But also keep our current members interested in the forums
With these thoughts rambling abouts in my head i've come up with a few ideas i would love to try and you will all see shortly what we're got under works / What we are releasing.. We are working towards a small goal to midnovember which you will all be able to read through an announcement post in mid-november.

Feedback is crucial for any community to work so don't hold back.

@Andrew` All games which has server files accessable can be hosted on a dedicated box, Just requires a little bit of extra work to manually sort it out & we've got a set of brains behind the scenes working to do so.
@'PL'  Ambrosia is one of the few remaining cs communities still standing and that is because it has switched owners recently three times.
I wish & I plan for ambrosia to change~ I don't want ambrosia to be a CS Community any longer as it is a dead game ( Although csgo going strong-ish. )
You will all be able to read what we've got planned for ambrosia forwards in our announcement post which is about to come in a week.

anywho i would've liked jailbreak to just stay up even if it had like 0 players but just for some fun
some days people just wish to join and then populate
but some people aren't willing to join an empty server to populate it :(

Ambrosia people somehow has short memory.  We had times our csgo servers were pretty damn popular if I might say.

In short period 1v1 server had over 10k different players and bhop server also was top 3 uk server same as 1v1.

But I had to quit because my life situation changed dramatically. We all get older and work and life gets more important.

Of course the same situation can be reached if all possible problems are solved.

I am wondering does example bhop server have fastdl issues or map issues.

What's up with double enter in the end of each sentence?
I have always wondered what kind of decease that is.

I'd say most people just moved on with their lives, myself included. That's the bottom line.

Also in my opinion, the entire fad of the gaming communities as in whole is strarting to die.
Driving force behind this being the lack of dedicated servers in games - which I mean is kinda good, that publishers do take care of their own servers now, but on the other, communities now have no void left to fill.

We as a culture in general seem to be more averse to grouping now and prefer more short-term encounters (be it in dating - tinder compared to dates), communication (bullet points instead of continuous text) or even gaming (random servers with 5 auto-matched people, rather than the same server we play on).

Or.. maybe I'm just reading too deep into it  :D

Try a good GTA V RP server, 32 players is the max sadly but people do play GOOD GTA V RP servers on FiveM. Another possibility is to move over to Rust, but sadly that's not a real community driven game.
