I remember when I first time suggested to get csgo in 2012, remembering replies that it will end up like css and 1.6 never will die..
Oh well, I wish someone would listen to me back then, we would easily beat fragmasters and ukcs servers just like that
It's far too late, however I belive with a proper aproach, making ambrosia great again everything is possible
You build house from foundation, so that step is done. I see great lads and I see much more great lads on the list who are willing to parcipate, so might be its not so late pl. Some things are just like wine. Not opened for years it becomes better and more valuable.
I can assure you with that big yearly experience in visiting jailbreak servers on multiple game platforms(from cs 1.6 up to experimental chivalry servers), the other communities are 5 steps ahead of us and will always be. Don't want to spread pessimism, but that's the realistic factor really.
Besides csgo was to die but valve adapted the marketing technique of using cs 1.6 professionals and shoving them in tournaments and interviews to promote csgo as being the successor of cs 1.6 than css. You had to scroll for pages how many css players were butthurt when their competitive scene dissolved due to ESL getting tons of cash to stop backing css and focus on csgo, even right now the csgo division at valve is mostly comprised of tournament managers than actual coders, and the occasional artists to make dank skins and sell them.
I mean valve used very similar traits as in tf2 to use microtransaction economy and lot of investment in sponsorship and popular forums that deal with cs to divert their attention to csgo, that's why it became such a big hit. Again, it did happen like 3-4 years ago and I'm not that familiar with behind-the-scenes of csgo for valve, at that time I used to visit csgo steam discussions and css communities that were transiting to csgo like ukcs.
However the main thesis that ambrosia supported was nonsteam and nostalgic audience, and rightly so nonsteam css was a total wreck unless you could endure russian css servers like I did before coming to ambrosia. And it was pretty expected in the 2012 period that replies were justifying that csgo is an experiment for valve which had high risks of being a total downer and money dump. It didn't turned out as the players of 2012 stated including me, plus the addition of cs 1.6 elitist that didn't accept anything other than cs 1.6 as being the faithful counter strike experience. Anybody in 2012 could have a computer that could play cs 1.6 and have equal fun as somebody else. And when new games come out, that specification queue increases which leads to some people having miserable graphics and others having superb graphics, like what is the reason to invest into a 12euro game to look at pixel graphics or something very poor(2012 momentum)
The main distinction I'm trying to put on the table is that this community was set back very hard, and the current playerbase is too little to have any reason to believe it can reach something, once was. Everybody can make promises and delay the enviable, on the contrary you can try to invest time and money into something because it's your resource to lose. I'm just disgusted over the backlash in the last 3 years of how this community turned from something incredible to totally laughable and satirical. Hence I moved on.
And what you know, other places have different social curves
