suggestion about empty server problem

Hello, guys!
I'll try to keep it as short as possible.
Recently our beloved server has been experiencing low comings . I asked myself : why ?
I'll ignore cheaters and undisciplined players issues ...
Joined a few other servers, who were mostly full 24/7 . And what did they have which was interesting for us?

P.S. I'm talking about doing some changes I want to see if it's negotiable .

Our server isnt boosted, the she servers youre talking about most likely are.

You are probably right about the boost.But I was more thinking of making it more special... unique. 
Basically , here's my suggestion  :

1. Maybe do a map cycle of 3  ? (e.g. de_dust de_dust2 de_dust2002) (or classic trinity dust2-inf-aztec/nuke)
2. 2-3 plug-ins as Presto had already mentioned : flag  spawn areas as camp spots (with punishment) , best players  of the round


I think that could bring a refreshment for the benefit of the server.
I'm leaving the initiative in your capable hands HS .

The only solution is to boost it weekly or monthly. What if you change to dust 2x2, players will join, after some minutes, you decide to change back to dust2 since there are already much amount of players, then the server gets empty again. (As it happen'd on public with aim maps/normal maps.) It's your choice. x)

Need some admins to connect and stick for a while especially in the mornings in order to attract player's attention and once connected they'll stick no problem.

Hello Everyone,

I appreciate the suggestions given by ichigo and I do agree with him....

The other problem I have encountered is that sometime the admins are being too harsh. The players are being banned for a week or month just because of swearing. We need to be soft and diplomat.

I am not pointing finger to anyone but unfortunately this is what I have experienced in my presence. We are here to help our regular players and to keep the server clean and running.

Except weekends I cant come and join morning session because of work commitments. I am normally present on every evening and hardly see any admins except few.

i think doing a map cycle of 3 isn't gonna bring players in the servers cuz there is public server which includes several maps ....but adding new plugins like flag spawn areas and and best players of the round is gonna be interesting and fun ................over all i want to see changes in dd2 server only but not too much , i mean keep the server clean and special with simple and few nice touches , not like some servers full of really weird plugins !!

Agree, increase the ping limit (if there is one). I would rather play with people on the server than with no one.

Also strongly agree with whoishussain, admins need to be a bit more lenient in their treatment to non-cheaters.  Crack a joke sometimes and maybe people will enjoy the atmosphere.

Best player of the round would be interesting, but obviously not when I'm there. I'll get bored of seeing my name pop up again and again

My personal suggestions:

- to create a side Deathmatch server to boost
- to create a side Match server to help bring more skilled players, so when they see Match server is free they could join pub server to increase server skill level.
- to limit ping >150 players to join. (surrounding by high pingers, the server just doesn't look professional)

The thing is the community had such attributes but unfortunately they went gradually emptier  and emptier... so HighStaff decided the remove or remake them.
I suggest we 1st do a decent main server, then gather material for the rest

well, i dont think the solution for an empty server is to create 2 servers more...... we need to focus on main dd2 server. if it becomes full, other 1.6 servers can be filled with redirected players from there. im trying to get some fy aim maps on Public server map rotation, so it could be used like a warm up server, and then join dd2

and, as far as i know, HPK was already set in 150

The Dust 2 server will remain purely as a Dust 2 server. The HPK is set at 150 and will also not be changed for the time being. Raising the limit decreases the quality of the server and then even the regulars will stop visiting the server, who will be replaced with randoms across the globe.
