If you satisfy the group that has a good net (more than 10mb) the lower than 10mb would get mad about the decission.
If you satisfy the group that has a bad net (less than 10mb) the upper case will get mad. What to do then?

the ping limit gotta be lowered, dd2 is turning into shit

The ping limit was recently lowered to ensure the playing field is as level as possible however I am trying to cater to everyone's needs at the same time.

I wouldn't be as bold as to say DD2 is turning in to shit, a little dramatic don't you think.

ye that was an expression sorry about that, I just dont feel like enjoying the game at dd2 anymore,

I would like to know what the current ping limit is, all im suggesting is to make it a bit lower to 150-130, would be pretty good

Currently the limit is set at 200.

Aside from the ping, is there anything else you feel would improve the server to make it enjoyable.

Well me as a steamer I would also want the Server to be SteamONLY and seek players for the server until we have over 100 regual cs 1.6 steamplayers.

Well we ain't gonna do that aswell:

 - I play a lot in DD2, what I notice is that our ambrosian DD2, mostly has skilled players in it, and they compete with each other who's killing most.

- now ofcourse, I hear all this shit: "Fisu you fking noob fix ur rates" (I havent touched them since months), "Fisu you lagging cunt" (Ping below 30) "Fisu, you lucker".

So basicly it's not quite the ping that causes the people getting mad.

Jeezy, by saying you change the server you feel better, I actually can only justify it with saying you "believe" that since you see a lot of different players.

The game works simple, you die, you die shake hands like a man. Never blame anything. (No offense towards anyone, just saying that same blaming we would have even with a ping limit of 100) - Many swiss clans join cs 1.6 from time to time and join our server as it's active by admins and a smooth running server.

ping is all that matters in game, its not about being bad or not...ping can actually change the whole gameplay you are used to

the server is prioritizing packets received based on the time stamps of those packets. Even though it is taking longer for the server to receive the high ping player's packets than it's taking the server to receive your own, which creates a delay and makes u miss a few shots even though you're sure you hit them, lets take someone with like 20 latency against someone with 300, the reason the guy with 20 latency missesd is that he actually fired 0.3 seconds before the guy with 300 was made aware of it, now just reverse the same thing with the guy with higher ping firing at the lower one.

Setting the ping limit to atleast 140 will make a bit of game change for good, since the latency difference between players will be lower, lets assume that lowest ping in the server is 20, it's only gonna be a 0.12 seconds difference although the best one is 0.04 which is not gonna happen.

as for people who teleport, they're just people with high ping and wrong rates, maybe using amx_exec on them based on their ping and fps might help them

I just saw it 250 last day no? 200 is quite good, but for me, if one of my family starts downloading, my ping goes to 150-200 (normaly I have 50-60.) the one that makes the server laggy are thsoe who have 250+ping.. even if you try to aim at them, you see them teleporting. :/

Well most will know my opinion about lowering the ping limit, fought hard to get it to at least 250 when i was stil HA (altho i would have preferred 100 myself) But I have a sense that its not just the high ping causing problems.

I'm pretty sure my rates are all set correctly and I have one of the lowest pings (25 normally), yet I sometimes get accused of teleporting so there is something else going on as well.

The next issue is the horrible reg when more than 20 ppl are in the server, not sure if thats related to the higher ping overall, but its really a problem.

The whole 'this server is a worldwide community so ppl from everywhere should be able to play' is plain and utter crap imho. Since playing with 150+ ping is horrible for the person himself and for others.

Steam only server would be nice, but i wouldnt suggest it to replace the dd2 server, I would much rather see it as a separate server with a few maps like dd2 inferno and nuke. maybe even a 20 slot one.

Even those who have 100+ ping wont enjoy the game since it's more complicated for them than the ones who got stable ping, I see them rarely tbh these days especially in DD2 and they ragequit from the moment they get killed at first round, my point is they don't abuse or use it like and advantage over other players.

apparently many loyal admins and players will leave if you are going to set the limit to 150 or 100 :)

Why come to a community where you are making you unable to play the games, and everybody else. Why you don't see any Europeans playing on american servers and vice a verse. Everybody would love to have a low ping and play in Antarctica but that technology is far from reaching us.

so you mean Non-Europeans dont play in ambrosia? while they used to play from 4/5 years daily ambrosian players and suddenly this ping matter make them leave?

I didn't say the ping increment made them leave, but it certainly worsen the experience for them. We are talking about dd2 here, in jailbreak ping limit was always over 100. And in dd2/pub/dm, packet traffic is far more important than in mods. As you are aiming for flawless performance, and having players with 10x the ping you have makes you unable to play correctly.

Besides that, non-european players back 4-5 years were making up 20% of ambrosia's base of players. Now it's 80%

there are very few english communities in the middle-east/africa and the only community they can find "close" to them is in europe: Ambroska?
