Well, I am a big runescape private server fan. I play loads of private servers. I have realised these make a lot of money from donators, I would like to recommend Ambrosia a runescape private server. You can add a webclient onto the forums and make a downloadable version, I can find people willing to help code and so on.

I know this may sound stupid, from Steam games to Runescape, but I think it would bring good money to Ambrosia, and double the traffic.

I myself in my previous years, tried to manage a server myself with an bud - I know the basics of managing one But no clue how to code
Aware how to set-up with a Source [ I'd prefer 718 ( AKA Pre-EoC ) & Mostly to get it started ( Know how to edit shops, Names & ETC, Simple things. )
Tho you'd probaly have to get a coder if yer needin sum advanced crap & Coin himself says he've got some experience too.

Something totally diffrent than Counter-strike, But hey - Theres thought of a minecraft server
Why not runescape private server?

[ RSPS's Are ILLEGAL to host under any circomstances & May be sued by Jagex if found & Made popular enough & forced to close .. ETC - Some Rsps have managed to avoid this by findin loopholes And payin the fine? When caught ]

EDIT to Raven: Rsps are Easyer Runescape gameplay, x2 - x10 Exp Earned, Free membership, Easyer to obtain Skills & etc - Basicly an easyer Runescape version in general

In real Runescape, money, xp, drops and all sorts are hard to get. I personally have spent over $500 on runescape private servers and currently playing on a new on which received over 2k donations.

I personally think making a server for Runescape will bring alot of new traffic and money to ambrosia. and make it better.

You will not get in trouble as long as you change couple names and so on for copyright reasons.
I have many places to find coders and managers, even I have experience.

At the momment, the Rsps community is quite dead, Due to the fact that all the big servers these days take most of em

But with the right advertisement & Management of the server ( Ofcourse Up-time too ) We'd be able to haul a few people

Seems like a good idea , I myself use to play on an RSPS.
They're fun to play because it's just easier everything.
I use to play one where it was just "`" key and give itemcode and you would get the item, or you can just play normal if you wanted to.
I forgot what it's called now though.

Isn't that the whole point of achievement of the game? If it's easy to get I would surely get bored of it pretty quick. When I played getting a 99 wasn't all that hard or xp simply dedication and time but rewarding in the end. The game is meant to be played where it should be and that's runescape.com...

How does it work? Where do you get the files needed? And the question of LEGALITY makes me wonder..

It is NOT Legal

Files are easy to come by, Often people publish their sources around the webs

Runescape is quite hard & alot of people doesnt reach the levels required to boss, Or do simple things like that
People turn to RSPS To learn how to boss, To see high level monsters.. Mainly to play an Easier Runescape

Rsps Is runescape, Just easier
Can't be told in any other way

well,

since i have over a 5 year journey trhu diffrent rspses i saw many getting closed etc...

having an rsps is illegal.. jagex has one of the most protected gamefiles in the world... every sprite... if jagex finds a webclient on our forums... or even a link to a webclient this forums will be suspended....

would you risk the whole ambrosian history to maybe get 2k??? ehrmmm rethink this

Raven,

Ill explain it to you on steam. Depending on the type of server you want you can find it online.
For example; PKing server would be different from a normal everything based server. You can find files on many websites. Coders can be found on rsps websites people are willing to code for ranks (like admin).

And runescape is now dead for people like me. With too many new updates i dont enjoy it as much. Rsps usually uses oldschool.

And like Koray and be on the server 24/7...
Id prob donate loads.

No rsps is not illegal. Soulsplit (closed number 1 rsps) is closed now because Runescape Jagex forces them too.
You can make custom quests to make it less copy like.

If Jagex wanted they would close most of the RSPS its not hard to find is it?
As long as your name / logo is different and a few other little things are different then you are fine.

You can download source + clients here, you pick a source which you like and suitable with low glitches and bugs, its like impossible to find a server without glitches thats why you need a coder to prevent them.
Once you picked one you just download it and host it and code what ever you want different.
You can find many coders http://www.rswebclients.com/forums/ as long as they get a rank and they dont pay, im sure 90% of them would be up for it. When I had my own private server I found a partner here.

Btw just wanted to say, for the first 2/3 months I am willing to pay 80% of all costs including server and any forum costs.

After this time you should get traffic anyway if you do me a rsps.

Rsps is a short from runescape private server, Runescape private server are illegal copies which uses Jagex copyrighted shit, but it is unlikely to be noticed by jagex as there are so many.

Also I could help with the server if needed as I do have previous experience with rsps' and rsps are coded with java and I have little bit experience with Java.

The downsides are that the servers vps would cost more than normally as it is required to buy DDoS protected vps as people will just for fun of it send packets to your server.

And it is true that rsps make alot of money for stuff, like donator, extreme donator, points etc.

P.S Whatever name & logo you use it is illegal to make rsps as they're using the files of Jagex and pictures with-in it.

Now that we all know its Illegal, Drop the discussion on if its Legal or not, I've got my fair share of rsps experience & Is aware of this

Jagex does not have the power to shut down community hosted websites tho, Only the server.
But, They can sue the creator of the Rsps ( I belive )
But as d00m said, Its hard for jagex too come by an "new" rsps, They've stopped worrin bout Ikov & Soul split it seems like
So if we were to create an server, It'd only take thus far ( months ) Before any " Big " ones would even care to take action - So it'd be fine to set one up

Ima talk about it, Like i'd be the one owning it [ My perfect server ]

Custom rares might be added in for donators, but sell-able to players

All Nex armours will be In-game, Drygores & Dungeoneering armours will be ingame
The eco will sit tight, Drops will take some time to come by, But not impossible & Taking days of grindin like in runescape
all safespots will be blocked & construction and herblore will be Expensive.
So the eco will sit tight

Usually on private servers, 99 herblore or 120 will be around 200m
I'd plan to set it to atleast 1 Bill ( 1000m )
And same for construction.
This will keep the rarety of the skills, Presumably
Donators will not be able to donate for In-game GP
All Gp in-game will come from Thieving, Money drops, Selling items to General stores & Such.
There will be two double exp weekends a month, & Intentions to make level 120 [ 104,325,843 EXP ( 104m ) ] A hard achievement. Exp rates will be normal, Easyer than RS harder than regular rsps.

Rsps also itself is a community set server, There isnt much of a community on Runescape so people choose to turn to Rsps.

Alot more would change, My way. But who knows!
Maybe we'll get an rsps & an person who owns it whom have intentions to just mess it up c: xD
