Few suggestions from mr finch.
« on: July 30, 2014, 12:19:33 pm »
So today, i have a few suggestions.

In the coming years i feel it's inevitable that the community will grow from just cs 1.6 so why not prepare. I feel it's only professional to get sponsored from various website. I'm sure multiple websites on various parts of the internet, if chosen correctly could be viable sponsors for us. With a sponsor comes new people from various different gaming worlds and would both increase the likely-hood of our new servers becoming popular faster than expected.

Secondly, in the community i couldn't really find a way for people to show off their skills unlike that of the graphics cool kids.
Why not have a different section of the website with a bio of peoples personal skills. As i'm sure that it would be a benifit for the highstaff just incase their knowledge or understanding of such skills aren't up to par as maybe someone who's been here 6 months and hasn't got to know the high staff very well yet.

thirdly, a reward system. for certain things you could create small awards like that of which we do every year but we could do it each month. We could place a system ( which i'm sure is out there ) Of people who log in every day of the month. If they have logged in every day, they have will have a small icon (with a number for how many times they've done it) showing that they've done this.
Other things that may not be as easy might be a dedicated award from a high staff showing that the said person has done something exceptional.
Also, donator of the month and this could go in a random generator. For every 5 euros you get one ticket or something?
For certain things we could put it on the home page but this is at the discretion of the highstaff.

(GET FRIGGING NEW SMILEYS) URGH

Lastly, why not twitch on the homepage? Make a ambrosia twitch account for a few twitch streamers and they can host at different times. (All about those new audiences!)
(

I'll probably have a few more in a few days but i have work soon so couldn't finish it.

I would defenitely agree with the 1st and the last suggestion, we can be sponsored by mots of websites, and we can gain enough money to boost all the servers (maybe creating new ones?..), i know that Ambrosia doesnt have any issues concerning the founds, but, still, getting sponsored by other "easy" websites, such as, T-shirts websites, i think that frangment has already suggested this idea, duno what was the result, and for the last suggestion, Ambrosians need some motivation, something to make a little "change", i'm sure that the rewarding, and the "Logged in" Awards will be very intresting.  :)

 Cheers,
 Nadir-tender

Personally if I was sponsoring community or firm would. I wouldn't consider ambrosia for top choice. Reason is simple because Ambrosia is nonsteam community. If community were Steam sponsorships were easier to get. And csgo player base is simply higher and game is new which would give PC components providers to sponsor. And cs 1.6 are past in many communities. Only servers they have is dd2 only and dd2 DM.

Support for everything.

Sponsorships is something this community never tried

A description of your position and role in a community is quite a phenomenal and something ambrosia needs to work on. Only just going on teamspeak and askin the guy rudely what are you doing here is not that pleasant.

I tried bringing back the oscars and the yearly awards but highstaff aren't interested in that anymore ;(
Could be because I'll get many medals xDDD

Also a Twitch.tv section can be valuable however I don't think we have many streamers. For that to work, we will need plenty of streamers. I can try my luck in a dying stream community and invite them here, all up to the staff if they want to expand on that.

Actually we have a topic for this, but since it was created, it has never been used. Which is a shame. http://www.ambrosia-servers.eu/community/index.php?topic=6585.msg95617#msg95617
Seems that it is archived. But good idea nevertheless.

I did suggest sponsorship a week ago I think and I did as well talked about it with Sam on TS3. As I've said before, sponsorship would be very beneficial simply because we've got a huge number of people viewing the page and as far as I'm aware companies are interested in their ads being viewed by many and this is one of the advantages that Ambrosia should take. I've also suggested few ideas of good sponsorship deals and I think Sam must of liked them yet we've got to await the answer from him.

Nice to hear from you Kieran! ;)

If you look back, about 2 years ago I suggested to look up for the sponsors and manage community that actually can earn some money for adding extra servers..

Somehow the feedback wasn't that I expected. Histaff is too lazy to shift ambrosia away from a "fan made community" to a something more serious.

The problem starts with the branding - it's not stylish and it won't attract a huge masses, nor it will make potential sponsors trust that ambrosia could handle the fast paced growth..

Also the image of ambrosia as top uk based community is gone. So what do we represent?  Middle East? We have like half of members from there.. Only like 30 guys from uk..

Also 5 k members he'll yeah, but guys check stats, how many members have more than 50 posts?? Only few hundred.

Ambrosia is a small, not uk based, not running the top servers anymore and you wanna seek sponsors already? Have you done it irl? I suggest to make a workgroup before even considering to talk with anyone..

Yes in a matter of fact i have, i was sponsored by two none uk websites in demolition. I now work in advertising and have many links, so lets have less of the rude comments.

We aren't very popular atm, but the idea is to help with that.

What do you meant of rude comments? I'm running my own company and we often are looking for adv markets, especially social networks. If you feel offended in sorry, but demolition was just a big fail and if you were paying for dedi and got some small advertisers back I'm pretty sure there was no profit at all.

If you are working in adv industry you must know a few simple steps that you must achieve.
The best marketing strategy asks you to know your product, right?

Do you know ambrosia? Now describe to me , a potential investor, advertiser..
How big ambrosia are, what about branding, hits per day, regular members, activities, social groups of members?

"I'm working in adv" doesn't fit your suggestion as a go atm.

Ambrosia brand must be recreated, 1.6 must be dumped as the main leader of the servers, and many many more things must be achieved before approach a proper sponsors, like uk based gaming gear companies.

Check UKCS and look how much money they roll in there and what sponsors they possibly they could have..

He has a point, UKCS has 3 games that they stay on. CSGO, CSS and Tf2. Every server is watched and taken care off. Everybody knows their place and nobody has ever made some big mess there.

A few things you've misunderstood. You have to assess the current assets and work off them. One of our main assets being casper, a reliable money flux for the community to stay strong. Secondly, the 'strong' ambrosians. We have a good majority of people who've been here a long time, it gives us history and a name for ourselves. Our product, Servers. For us to become popular we don't just ditch cs 1.6. It's what we're currently strongest and we have a coder, tony. From here we have a market to lead out to, the 'oldies'. For us to be have a wider audience we have to get new servers but we don't have that capability yet. I'm sure our divided capacity of knowledge is strongly in CS 1.6 and a small capacity in minecraft. Nothing else. We'd need people to come in and help, which either costs money or 'trust', for us to expand. But to expand isn't my intentions. We actually have no form of advertising and small sponsors might be different from what you're thinking. A website saying 'We sponsor 'Ambrosia'' Actually counts as a sponsor and therefor is a form of advertising.
I think you're trying to make it sound to complex for the actual thing.

*UPDATE* In talks with a small tshirt company in my local town who's willing to sort us out a tshirt branch. We could use them for giveaways or sales, giveaways being the more likely option.
I'm willing to set this up and it only costs me a small fee.

You sound like teenager dream ;) No offence..

"strong virtual personalities" with a few 1.6 servers is not the product you wanna sell.. If marketing is too complex thing for you to discuss, i wonder why you mention that you're working in adv business..

Ambrosia is a bunch of 300 members and 1.6 servers.. How you can sell this to any gear UK distributor? Ambrosia is not even UK based except the fact that servers are uk based and only lang is british eng...

And you sound like you're idiotic. When the hell did i suggest a UK based distributer? I'd got a uk tshirt but we have people all around the world. Stop acting like a cock and shut up.
Your 'advertising' ideas are to complex.

Which is what i've said since you first commented. Tar.

Why are you bickering each other? You've different opinions, which is understandable.
This is simply a board where you give your suggestions, whether some people agree or not is a different matter.
Arguing won't help push your ideas further, you can only expect the opposite.

Mutual respect is nice.

If Ambrosia stepped up the ladder, moved onto CSGO then maybe we could get some sponsors.

At the moment, Ambrosia (a counter-strike 1.6 community - a game which requires a toaster to play) getting a sponsor is very unlikely.
Why do i have no awards? Am I not good enough for you?

A true marketing pro  have spoken.. :) I even haven't shared any idea, and you already call them complex, whilst you claim that you are working on the market, whilst it's you sir, who acts like a kid, not me.

I have a reason not to believe a single word that you are saying..

To be honest, this is all too early to think about. And honestly, Ambrosia didn't have any priorities to advertise and or get sponsors. It was never a real objective. Also there wasn't real objective to open possibilities for other games. Yes it was here and there some other games, but it was that of an importance.

So, maybe, MAYBE, when Highstaff actually decides to put this focus on getting sponsors, focus on other games, then perhaps your arguments be valid. Atm, it is pointless to argue who has a bigger wilie.
