Hi guys, this topic is for tips and suggestions for admins, trial and full. i will try to edit this post to have all tips organized (i hope do it in alphabetical order) and easy to check. feel free to quote this tips and ask for them. also if you want a better translation into english
Amxmodmenuif u want to use commands through console is perfect, and more exact. but if u want use them faster, u can bind the menu in 1 key, example: bind "key" amxmodmenu. then, when u press that "key" u can see a menu in left side of screen, so u can manage faster with ur rights. now u MUST ban using this menu
sometimes, when players leaving and joining all the time is a bit mess using this menu, coz all players got assigned a number, but this changes when players leave or join. so if u want slay somebody, assigned with "x" number, but suddenly ppl join/leave server, the assigned number wil change, so u can make a mistake slaying/slapping/kicking or even banning. so, except for ban, i suggest u to use console if u are not very hurry (amx_kick "player" "reason", or whatever u need)
BalancingI dont know why i should write about this, coz its obvious. but as i see a lot of admins fragging in winning team (like big noobs, coz frag in winning team is easy, the difficult is frag on loser team). Also, if u are playing vs low skilled players, dont try hard vs them. Use weak guns (like glock or shotgun) so the low skilled players will have a little chance to kill and enjoy.
Admins are here to manage the server and players have fun playing in our servers. if teams are not balanced, players dont enjoy, and leave server or switch to winning team. Admins are here to balance the teams (the 1st step is ADMIN GO TO LOSER TEAM), so you must choose the top players, and when they die you can transfer them to the loser team (ofc u should ask them 1st, if they want to switch team). i dont want to see you fragging non stop in winner team all time (or you will be warned). i already transfered 3 admins in game to loser team for balance (and i will not do again,
if i must transfer admins they will be demoted). also, you can not warn a camper in the loser team, if the teams are not balanced. example: Terr score = 15, CT score =5. 1 CT is camping, OFCOURSE you can not warn the CT for camp (i dont care the map, if its cs_ or de_ map) if the teams are not balanced. 1st of all, balance the teams, and when teams are balanced you can warn/punish for camping. i want this enough clear for you, coz for me its serious
Banswell, i hope all of u know how to ban cheaters. u must record a good demo where u can see 100% he is cheating (to record a demo, from console enter: record "demo´s name", and demo will be saved in ur cs folder, with the name u gave). u MUST BAN ONLY using the amxmodmenu. if the cheater leaves use
amx_bandisconnectedmenu for ban him.
When we ban some1, server takes a SS, wich will be saved on cheater´s pc, so when u ban, try to ban just in the moment that cheater is facing enemies through wall (although, this can not be 100% sure, coz sometimes the ban gots some delay in seconds, so be sure u rec a good and long demo)
ONLY when banlist doesnt work (so bans with amxmodmenu will not work) u can ban this ways: (ONLY when amxmodmenu not working)
1.- amx_ban player time reason (if cheater is still on server)
2.- kick the player. amx_last to get his info. amx_addban "ID/IP" "time" "reason" (if cheater leaves server, u can use this, without kicking him ofc)
Bindssome ppl already asked me for my binds, what you must do is: go to your cs folder. in my pc C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Half-Life\cstrike , search for your config.txt file. open it and binds must be like this: bind "key" "amx_say text". then, my binds are:
bind "i" "amx_say No swear/flame/insult/disrespect or ban"
bind "j" "amx_say No camp or kick, play mission"
bind "l" "amx_say No spam/advertising/flooding or ban"
bind "p" "amx_say Please speak english"
bind "v" "amx_say Use teamsay+@ to report a cheater, only admin will read"
with this u will send a message to every player, but on normal chat
Use it only to warn players, when you see they breaking rules. not everytime, or players will be annoyed
if you can, spam ONLY in the end of the round. read also in this topic, Spamming, csay messages
Campersas you know camp is not allowed. on de_maps, CTs are able to camp untill Terrorist plant bomb (from this moment CTs must play mission and defuse the c4). on cs_maps, Terrorist are able to camp defending hostages. this is very important, coz a lot of ppl complain about campers all the time. explain to them the different maps and different missions. u need ur brain/common sense also for different situations (its not the same a terr base camping in de_maps, that camp near the c4).
on fy/aim maps there is no rule for this issue. ofc ppl use to rush on poolday or iceworld, but if they camp in these kind of maps we can not punish too much. maybe only if 1vs1 and 1 of them is hiding behind a corner or a box we can warn them to dont camp, but dont abuse your powers
ESP or the wh for admins in spec
well, this plug is very usefull for catch wh´ers. but you can not trust 100% on this, because, a skilled player usually preaims and wallbangs a lot, using the sound and/or the radar to know/imagine where enemies are. its easy for catch noob cheaters, but u could be confused with "smart cheaters" or skilled players
this plug only works when you are in spec, and sometimes, if you can not use it, you need to wait untill map or round changes
now this plug is the same as in Dust2 server. u can not config or turn off. u will got the lines all the time since u go spec mode
Evading stuff
mostly of you know this rule, if some player is banned permanent (usually for cheating) in 1 of our servers, he is banned in every server.
BUT if anybody´s nickname matches with 1 guy that you think is already banned, this doesnt mean he is the same player and he is actually evading.
SO before ban for evade, you must check: both´s players IP (the guy banned previously and the guy you want to ban), steam ID if they have, and you must find also the proof about that guy is already banned (his unban request already denied, or the topic where he is banned)
DONT BAN ONLY FOR NICK, check IP, steam ID and all necesary to be sure that he is the same player
FY/AIM mapsnow these maps are added on server cycle map. if u see there are too many players on server (more than 12, for example) u can ask them if they want to change map, to a de_ or cs_ map, voting through console
amx_vote changemap? yes no
u got a huuuuge maplist, so use ur brain for vote. if server full vote for big standard maps. if few players on server, then vote for fy/aim maps
try to wait untill round ends for change map, dont change map in the middle of round
u can do this also with standar maps, not included on cycle, but installed on server. to see the whole maplist on server:
http://www.ambrosia-servers.eu/community/index.php?topic=29165.0Inactivityas u know admins must be active on server and forum. to track ur activity on server i use gametracker, so PLEASE, stick to 1 nick or 2 only, coz i must to find all ur nicks and add every nick´s time to know the total time u spend there. u can change ur nick to spot a smart cheater, but u must stick to 1 nick usually.

Spec bugsometimes some players get this annoying bug. you can not spec them. plus when bomber dies, c4 doesnt show on radar.
when server is full (31/32) there will be ALWAYS spec bug (idk how to explain exactly, its coz slots). to check who is the bugged player, just type
status in console and the last player in that list will be the bugged guy.
to fix the bug, the player must restart his pc or net. only when server is full we can allow "trusted" players to keep the bug. example: Grmbl or Dr.Drake has this bug. server is full. no need to they restart coz we already know they dont cheat ( they are too noobs) and they can keep playing even with bug. if they restart, another player will get the bug, and maybe the new bugged player is a non steam with high ping and good score.... (possible hacker)
so, when you see a spec bug and you want spec/record him: ask him nicely to restart, and explain him why. if he doesnt leave in 1/2 rounds you can ban him 5 mins, reason: spec bug
but, before ask him for rr, ask another admins if they know that player, if he is trusted, if he plays often......
Votes votemap and votechange included
with amx_vote we can make polls for players on server. we can use this for some funny moments also (amx_vote "what u think about Burzum" "he sucks" "he is noob" "he is gorgeous"). but for votemaps or changemap (amx_vote changemap yes no) YOU MUST COUNT THE VOTES. and you will ask yourself: "why i must count the votes if the console gives me the result", yes, but its not the same 3 votes of difference than 10 votes of difference
because if you ask for changemap, 25 players on server, 11 says no change and 14 says yes. console will say "yes" wins.... but with this kind of result DONT CHANGE THE MAP, because only the half of players want to change it... and the other half of players will dislike this
same example, ask for changemap, 25 players on server, 20 players say yes to change, and only 5 say no... then you can votemap.....
there isnt any rule about this, and also there is not an exact number of votes to decide. you must use ur brain and your common sense. if most of server want something you should listen to them, but you must realize if mostly of server want the same, or just a few amount of players...

PLease try to dont spam too much, coz a lot of players use little resolution, so they are annoyed with these big messages.
if you want to chat with admins, use
admin chat (u@).
if you want talk with some player/friend use
amx_psay <nick> <message>.
when you want to warn somebody try to do it in the end of the round, the same goes for votes... dont do it in the middle of round.... try to spam in the end of round for bother the minimun (omg sorry for my english again

also, for warn spectators, if you are in spec, just use
team chat (u) and if you are playing use (y@@@ - dunno the console command) for message at bottom of screen.
for warn every player u should use only amx_say and u will send the message to every player, but in standar chat
spams and flooding in the middle of screen are ONLY for warn players and explain rules. OFCOURSE you can use amx_csay for say something, or make some funny vote.... but dont do it usually please, coz we annoy the players with this. and if you do this DO IT IN THE END OF THE ROUND thank you
