Raven,
In real Runescape, money, xp, drops and all sorts are hard to get. I personally have spent over $500 on runescape private servers and currently playing on a new on which received over 2k donations.
I personally think making a server for Runescape will bring alot of new traffic and money to ambrosia. and make it better.
You will not get in trouble as long as you change couple names and so on for copyright reasons.
I have many places to find coders and managers, even I have experience.
it is :) go read the policy of jagex :)
Jagex's ToS
Intellectual property rights
You must not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify any Jagex Product client software in any way (except to the extent allowed by applicable law). You must not use a modified/customised version of the client software or attempt to sub-license it. You must not create or provide any other means by which any Jagex Product may be played by others (including, without limitation, replacement or modified client/server software, server emulators).IT IS ILLEGAL1) Don't claim anything to be yours. Make a TOS.
2) Don't use a webclient.
3) Don't replicate the Runescape website for your forums.
4) Don't host the download link for your client on your forums, host it on a file hosting website.
That pretty much covers everything client side. Server side.. apart from using the same login protocol (unless I'm mistaken), Jagex have copyrights on nothing else on the server.i would recommend pkscape source or insidiax... not to much rares etc wich is nice and kinda vanilla...u stupiid.. you just suggested one of the most shittiest sources available and just keep doing so, if you actually don't know anything about rsps please stop trying to sound like an expert of rsps.

haven't checked the source of this http://www.rune-server.org/runescape-development/rs-503-client-server/downloads/588819-interventionx-718-742-release.html (http://www.rune-server.org/runescape-development/rs-503-client-server/downloads/588819-interventionx-718-742-release.html)
but it seems pretty good if the topic speaks the truth. In other hand if this is not what you guys would not want there's always Xenorune
Actually
Just did some googlin & found out that.. To get an " Legal " Rsps server
You just outta be aware of the followinCode: [Select]1) Don't claim anything to be yours. Make a TOS.

where is that information from? just a random forum?
Most of you guys in here are wrong.
Believe it or not, but the majority of servers are illegal.
You are using Jagex's Stream and Cryption classes.
There's also a belief that a TOS can save you. No, it can't. It's like murdering someone, placing them on your lawn, and then placing a sign that states 'Police officers are not allowed on this premise
So, there's really only one way around the illegality, and that is rewriting the RS client not to use anything of Jagex's. Although, if you can do this, you're better off going and making your own game.
And now, to answer your other question. Why do they care.
Well, think about this. You spend years learning how to efficiently program in Java, and you make a great game.
Now, here comes a bunch of kids, who don't bother to learn how to program properly, and they steal your game, and host it.
Not only do you lose revenue, but you also know that these kids could also be profiting off of your hard work.
