Title: Aoe1 DE LUL
Post by: 'PL' on June 14, 2017, 07:16:13 pm

Great game for stalgia factor, problem is the dudes who handle it.

Let me take the opportunity to explain the situation why is this gonna flop, even though i'd love to be wrong here.
So in 2013 they announced aoe2hd and it took around 3 years to get the game in a playable shape faithful to the original. During those years the released age of mythology and rise of nations on steam for 30ish euro.  Both games right now are dead, not supported, no comment nor acknowledgement by microsoft or the developers, reason being as they don't make $ as aoe2hd dlcs do, which leads me to believe they gonna abandon aoe2hd to work on this and then bury it when it doesn't pay m$'s shareholders investments. So they want to milk more $ out of the aoe players by releasing this, plus the funny part is that it's exclusive to windows10(and you need an xbox live account) and it won't be on steam. I signed for the beta because i do have win10 already so i'm not in the minority, but oh boy how m$ is alienating the what's left of the competitive playerbase in south east asia that still enjoy this.

They charge ridiculous amount of money for a HD remaster of a game.

This should be max $15ish

20$ is not that bad
aoe2 had no changes in graphics and it got 15$
I wonder how much aoe4 will cost and i believe it wont release in steam (hopefully it does)

As a matter of fact, i played the beta since august. I gotta say, they'll abandon this faster than EA can purchase microsoft and kill it the same month.  It's a faithful remaster and a little far too close to the original where the mechanics that were introduced in aoe2 are absent that makes it quite more tasking and annoying to play. So far no desyncs or any technical problems as of yet, but we have to see on release day what awaits us. They had a rocky development road, but most of the complaints about the interface were taken into perspective and improved.
