Hey guys.
We have noticed lately that people, in general, don't know how to use the forum properly. That's why I started this topic and here you are some FAQ.
- If you have other questions regarding the forum and the way it's being moderated then feel free to ask them here by simply posting a reply (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?action=post;topic=36973.0).
- If you want to discuss about any of the questions then please, make sure to start a new topic (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?action=post;board=24.0) in the General Discussions (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?board=24.0) corner.
Before reading the questions, keep in mind that in this case, something inappropriate is something that doesn't stick to the Forums Terms & Conditions (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?topic=35165.0) a.k.a Registration Agreement that you accepted the day you registered in this forum.
What do I do if I see something inappropriate in a specific post that concerns me ?
Report the post but if the offence is not obvious at all, then feel free to contact us in private in order to explain why and how that post offended you.
What do I do if I see something inappropriate in a specific post that doesn't concern me at all ?
Pretty simple, report the post and don't reply if you have nothing to say regarding the main topic.
I have seen people spamming/going off-topic lately, does this mean that I can spam/go off-topic too ?
That basically depends on the situation and a lot of factors are taken in consideration while judging such posts.
- If somebody posts a meme or something irrelevant like "hahaha", in a topic that was posted in the comedy corner for example, he won't be punished for it as long as he doesn't flood the forum.
- If somebody goes off-topic or posts a meme in a report topic for example, then he will definitely be punished for it (verbally or forum warning/moderation/mute) and his post will be garbaged/deleted.
But keep in mind that it's not always possible to say whether something can be considered as spam or not and that's why we are being lenient on this one.
What do I do if I see someone (staff/non-staff) making inappropriate posts, going off-topic or spamming on a regular basis ?
- If staff (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?action=staff) : make a topic about it in the Complaints Section (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?board=26.0).
- If non-staff : make a topic in the Report a Player Section (https://www.ambrosia-servers.com/community/index.php?board=50.0).
Why is there a drama corner ?
As perfectly summed up by @Alberto, the drama corner exists because people, in general, don't report inappropriate posts and/or its posters for posting them and they start irrelevant arguments (a.k.a drama by the majority of the community), instead of letting the staff deal with such situations. If people wouldn't start or get involved in irrelevant arguments then the drama corner would be inactive and I can assure you that we would have removed it ages ago.
However, the problem with these irrelevant arguments is that they poison the main topic since they are off-topic most of the time (people lose interest in the main topic).
Therefore, - in order not to punish every single member that starts or gets involved in these irrelevant arguments ;
- in order to keep the irrelevant argument out of the main topic (so it doesn't get poisoned) ;
- in order to let people argue until the discussion is over and to grant them freedom of speech ;
the irrelevant arguments are moved to the drama corner without being locked or garbaged/deleted.
But don't get confused by its name. The drama corner is not a corner to make fun out of anyone or any post contrary to what some people believe. Even if they are in the drama corner, the opinions shared in such arguments are still taken into consideration and keep the same level of seriousness.
