Case #2 - The Missing Woman
Plot: A woman suddenly disappeared, and all clues lead to her sister. However, not everything is as simple as it sounds. Look for clues, listen to interrogations and find what happened to the missing woman.

Quote
San Francisco, May 29th 2006.
-911, what's your emergency?
-Hello, this is Jason Lars, from Gold Street no12, I wanted to report a missing person!
-Who is the person, sir?
-My wife, Linda, she was going to fly to Mexico to visit her sister, but it's been 4 days now and I had no news from her. I called her sister and she told me Linda never even arrived at the airport.
Please help me, I don't wanna lose my wife!!! I think, I think she could've been murdered!
-Calm down sir, we're sending some police officers to your house to investigate this.
Few minutes later, the police arrived. They talked to mr.Lars, he told them what he said on the phone when he called 911 and elaborated:
-My wife and her sister had always had conflicts, especially after their father did earlier this year. He didn't leave a will so this hole heritage was a mess. But Linda's sister, Martha? Oh, she's a bitch,
you cannot believe the words and threats I've heard from her about us.. Anyway, Linda wanted to fix their relationship, she always had faith in this, so 4 days ago, I dropped her at the airport, I kissed her for goodbye and left
when she was about to check her red suitcase and head to the boarding queue. So she must've been on the plane, how come Martha says Linda never arrived? But even if she didn't, why didn't she report it soon after?
I am telling you officers, she had something to do with this.
-Alright, we will investigate it sir, you have our word.
-Please find her, I cannot live without her, said Jason while tears were starting to come out of his eyes.
They looked around, they had a big, 2-floor house, and a big garage and a big backyard after it. The garage was full of tools and wrenches, and had a big chainsaw as well. Most of the tools were hanging on the walls on nails.
-You into car fixing, mr.Lars?
-Call me Jason, and yeah officer, I used to be a mechanic before, then I opened my own car store. It was going downhill but we were managing, Linda always said we should sell this house and the 2 appartments that her father left on her name and move back to our old house. I didn't wanna listen to her, wish I had...
Anyway, now I still repair parts and friends' cars for a small price, hence all the tools around here. I still got my wrenches, rust sprays and a couple of my big old hammers.
-What about this empty nail here? Anything missing?
-Yeah, my 40LA big wrench, gave it to Jim across the street, he wanted to repair his son's bike I think, not sure.
The backyard was big covered in short grass, with a few chairs and a table, a big tree and a sun clock right next to it.
-Oh, nice sun clock. Did you make it?
-Yeah, Linda wanted one of those, she likes the old-fashioned stuff. I put it 3 days ago, it was supposed to be a surprise when she'd come back next week, but.... oh god, I'm sorry, it's just, I'm so worried...
-It's alright, sir. We understand. Thank you for your cooperation, we were glad to know we didn't need a warrant as you let us check everything here.
-Anything so you can find her. Search the whole house, dig the damn backyard, anything I can do for you, just don't break anything.
-We should get going, thank you for your time.
They left the house, the garbage truck was passing by to pick up the garbage bin on the street in front of the house and empty it.
-Hey officers! Good day, huh?
-Hey Jim, busy day you may say!
At the airport, talking to the security.
-No, miss Linda Lars never boarded on the plane.
-Are you sure?
-I have the records right here.
-What about her luggage?
-Her luggage was never checked-in either.
-What? So she was on the line to check-in her luggage, but never made it?
-I don't know officers.. but I didn't see her. Being on duty at the time, I was patrolling this area, but I never saw her.
-One last question. Can anyone tamper those logs, and let's say, delete anything?
-Only after an order from the flight's destination. For example, in this case, if Mexico's airport called and asked Linda's board logs to be deleted for some important reason, but that is highly unlikely.
The police were quite puzzled. Linda was supposed to be checking in her luggage but disappeared just before that?
Mexico's National Airport, May 31st, 2006.
They searched around. They checked the bathrooms, some of them were really filthy, there were even some marks on the floor, could be red paint, or even blood.
-Ugh, the hell.. We need to check this as well, just to be sure it's only paint.
They headed to the lost and found section, and after looking around for about 10 minutes, they found a red suitcase with some women clothes in it.
-Hey, you! Is there any detail on this suitcase? Any name? Anything?
-Like I give a crap.. this isn't worth my salary.
-How about you answer my question?
-Yeah there's a name, your grandma's.
-You piece of crap. Officer Jackson was about to grab that young man from the neck but officers Reymons and Nickols interfered.
-Calm down officer! We're here for a purpose. And you, young scumbag, will be reported to the local authorities. You'll be taught a lesson.
Later at the airport.
-Could that suitcase be Linda's?
-Maybe, but we cannot be sure, we could try asking her husband. But right now we're here for another reason.
Martha Brooks' house, later that day.
-Hello, miss Martha Brooks? 3 officers were standing at her front door.
-Yes?
-Sorry to disturb you, we're here for you sister, Linda. We're working on her disappearance.
-Oh, please, come in!
Later in the house.
-Linda had always been the better sister, I had some anger management issues, but I've been visiting therapists for 2 years now. We've had plenty of fights with Linda, mostly because of me, but I loved her.
When our father died on January, we were both devastated. I left home few years ago and moved here, I wanted to be independent. I fought with my family so you can say we didn't part quite well.
When our dad passed, he had left no will, so most things went to Linda. She had... has a good life, and I am almost struggling here, so I was enraged, it's true.
-According to mr.Lars, you even said you'll kill her once.
-Yeah... I did say it, but I would never ever mean it, I would never hurt my younger sister! I love her, always have! When she told me she was going to come visit I was glad! I wanted us to start over!
-What happened the day that Linda was supposed to fly over?
-I went to the airport few minutes before she was supposed to land, the plane landed, but I never saw her coming out of the gate. One of the airport's supervisors is my ex, so I managed to get him to access the logs and see if she boarded. He told me she didn't.
I was worried, and shocked, so I stayed there for hours, hoping she had just taken another plane, but she never showed up. So I went home, hoping she just cancelled it for another day. I didn't report it because... I don't know, I couldn't believe it.
My mind has not been totally clear the last years, especially with my anger issues... I just, lost it! Why would I do it anyway? For her life insurance? I wouldn't get it anyway. Her small heritage? I don't care, I just want my sister... I regret telling her all those things now, I hope she's still out there, please find her!
They checked the house, it was small, with a living room, 2 bedrooms, a small bathroom and a kitchen. There was a piece of wood with 5 slots for knifes to put in, but 1 slot was empty.
-Missing a knife, miss Brooks?
-Yeah, I don't know where it is the last days... but hell, that's not what I have been worrying about lately...
-What about those big, black, plastic bags?
-Oh, I am crazy about recycling, I put anything that can be recycled into those bags and hand them to the garbage truck every week.
-Are there any bags missing?
-Yeah, I gave 5 of them to the truck 2 days ago.
-Hmm, alright. Thank you for your time.
-Please let me know if there's anything new! Please find my sister alive!

That is all you need to know. Read the case closely, put the clues together, and find out what happened to Linda Lars, find out how and why she disappeared, who is responsible and any missing pieces to complete the puzzle.

Good luck.

Not an easy case tbh. Can I know what the husband said about the red suitcase that the police officers found at Mexico's airport?

No. Just for the record, sometimes I'll be helping out as well, if I see the case not moving on for some time.

My suspect is Linda's sister Martha Brooks for now.

First Evidence:
When Officers were interrogating Martha, She said " She had... has a good life," How can she even say had?! Linda was reported missing, and her death was not confirmed yet!

Second Evidence:
Martha said that one of the airport's supervisors is her ex and that her Ex managed to get access to the logs and see if she boarded. It means he also has the authority to delete the logs too. And  It was mentioned by the security of San Francisco airport  that the logs can be deleted after an order from the flight's destination, which basically points that Martha's ex can ask the San Francisco airport official to delete Linda's board logs.

Third Evidence:
Martha said, " I didn't report it because... I don't know, I couldn't believe it." And this is ridiculous because if your loved one does not arrive at the airport within  allocated time, you will start panicking and definitely call someone asking whether he/she actually took the flight or not. And in this case, Martha should have called Jason(Linda's husband). But she did not!

If possible, I would like to know the reports on:
a red suitcase with some women clothes found in lost and found section of  Mexico airport.(Linda's destination)
some marks on the floor that  could be red paint, or even blood in Mexico airport.
What were in big, black, plastic bags at Martha's home?

Martha said "Why would I do it anyway? For her life insurance? I wouldn't get it anyway. Her small heritage? I don't care". Her motive for killing Linda might not be financial benefits, but she seems to be hating Linda to death. She had anger management  issues and once even  said that she would kill Linda.  Although she said that  she been visiting therapists for 2 years now, she might still have that hatred and grudge against Linda, which might eventually directed her to murder Linda.

mhm ok, then I need some time to think about it. I just don't know why I have a feeling that the sun clock might actually be a grave.

The suitcase will firstly be taken to the SFPD lab for any DNA and then to the husband for him to tell if the clothes are his wive's or not, and that whole process can take 2-3 days. You can either wait for the results or move on to make your theory without it. Your call.

I will be going throught the story and inserting my comments in red in each section. At the end I will put my conclusions/questions out in green.

Now here I am thinking why did the husband not call the cops earlier and waited 4 days to report the missing person. Did he try making contact with her before those 4 days? We don't know yet so let's continue reading.

Please help me, I don't wanna lose my wife!!! I think, I think she could've been murdered!
Red flag has been issued. Why murdered? What made him think she got murdered? Did he kill her? A missing person case is very different from a murder.

-Calm down sir, we're sending some police officers to your house to investigate this.
Few minutes later, the police arrived. They talked to mr.Lars, he told them what he said on the phone when he called 911 and elaborated:
-My wife and her sister had always had conflicts, especially after their father died earlier this year. He didn't leave a will so this hole heritage was a mess. But Linda's sister, Martha? Oh, she's a bitch, you cannot believe the words and threats I've heard from her about us.. Anyway, Linda wanted to fix their relationship, she always had faith in this, so 4 days ago, I dropped her at the airport, I kissed her for goodbye and left when she was about to check her red suitcase and head to the boarding queue. So she must've been on the plane, how come Martha says Linda never arrived? But even if she didn't, why didn't she report it soon after? I am telling you officers, she had something to do with this.
Heritages (specially if they are big) are always a mess, specially if the siblings have problems between each other. Could it be that her sister had anything to do with her dissapearance? We shall see soon.
Now why would you mention 'threats' and not specify what those threats are? Are they minor threats or important life threatning threats. Alright so the last time the husband saw his wife was at the airport when she was getting ready to check her luggage in. Plus the suitcase was red so that might be a clue for later.
Indeed how come didn't the wife arrive in Mexico and how come her sister did not call to check up on her sister if she knew she was coming but never arrived? Suspicious shit right there folks.

-Alright, we will investigate it sir, you have our word.
-Please find her, I cannot live without her, said Jason while tears were starting to come out of his eyes.
This husband guy seems emotional about this whole thing and it appears he really loves his wife. Could he be faking it? Or is it real?

They looked around, they had a big, 2-floor house, and a big garage and a big backyard after it. The garage was full of tools and wrenches, and had a big chainsaw as well. Most of the tools were hanging on the walls on nails.
-You into car fixing, mr.Lars?
-Call me Jason, and yeah officer, I used to be a mechanic before, then I opened my own car store. It was going downhill but we were managing, Linda always said we should sell this house and the 2 appartments that her father left on her name and move back to our old house. I didn't wanna listen to her, wish I had...
Money problems. These are always what drives people to murder. Could it be that the husband killed his wife for her money? But that won't make sense since his wife was willing to sell her properties to help the husband. I don't think that the husband would kill his wife for that.

Alright I know what you are thinking, could this 40LA wrench be used to kill his wife and now it suddenly missing? I don't think so and here is why:
1.  The husband was specific as to what was missing, and normally when people are trying to hid something, they won't be specific, he could have said some tools or a wrench. But since he was specific, I don't think he was trying to hide anything and he was open about it.
2. We can always go to the neighbor and ask him if he really did borrow the wrench from the husband. (Andrew can you tell me that? Or we can't have anymore information?)
3. A wrench is rarely used as a murder weapon, since he had a variety of other tools around, he could have gotten something sharper or heavier to commit his murder, so I doubt this was used to kill his wife.

Could it be that the husband was occupied with building/making the sun clock that he did not try to contact his wife or got worried too quickly? Could be, the husband seems to really love his wife and right im not leaning on convicting him of murder (if his wife is murdered, we still don't know that yet).

-It's alright, sir. We understand. Thank you for your cooperation, we were glad to know we didn't need a warrant as you let us check everything here.
-Anything so you can find her. Search the whole house, dig the damn backyard, anything I can do for you, just don't break anything.
Genuine guy that is really trying to help the investigators solve this case.

-We should get going, thank you for your time.
They left the house, the garbage truck was passing by to pick up the garbage bin on the street in front of the house and empty it.
-Hey officers! Good day, huh?
-Hey Jim, busy day you may say!
Now here I am intreagued. Why would the story mention the garbage truck/worker. What does that have to do with the story?

If she was in line and checked in but there are no logs of that, could it be that the mexican airport deleted her logs? Or was the husband lying in misleading the investigators and he never really dropped his wife at airport?

Mexico's National Airport, May 31st, 2006.
They searched around. They checked the bathrooms, some of them were really filthy, there were even some marks on the floor, could be red paint, or even blood.
-Ugh, the hell.. We need to check this as well, just to be sure it's only paint.
Sign of a struggle?

They headed to the lost and found section, and after looking around for about 10 minutes, they found a red suitcase with some women clothes in it.
-Hey, you! Is there any detail on this suitcase? Any name? Anything?
-Like I give a crap.. this isn't worth my salary.

Later at the airport.
-Could that suitcase be Linda's?
-Maybe, but we cannot be sure, we could try asking her husband. But right now we're here for another reason.
Red suitcase with womens cloths in it. That could literaly be anyone's suitcase. There a shit ton of women with red suitcases. Could be Linda's. (Andrew can you tell me of the suitcase is linda's (after the investigators ask the husband).

Martha Brooks' house, later that day.
-Hello, miss Martha Brooks? 3 officers were standing at her front door.
-Yes?
-Sorry to disturb you, we're here for you sister, Linda. We're working on her disappearance.
-Oh, please, come in!
PLEASE COME IN!!!! Your sister is missing and that is your reaction? She could be the one responsible.

Anger management issues, that shit is a drug. For people with such an issue, they do some dumb and dangerous shit.
She started saying 'she had' and then corrected it to 'she has', could she, without noticing, said had she killed her but then tried fixing her mistake?

-According to mr.Lars, you even said you'll kill her once.
-Yeah... I did say it, but I would never ever mean it, I would never hurt my younger sister! I love her, always have! When she told me she was going to come visit I was glad! I wanted us to start over!
Younger sister. Alright so it could be that she got so angry/jealous at her younger sister that she had life figured out but she as the older sister was struggling in mexico? Could it be that she killed her to get all the money/heritage from her dad?

-What happened the day that Linda was supposed to fly over?
-I went to the airport few minutes before she was supposed to land, the plane landed, but I never saw her coming out of the gate. One of the airport's supervisors is my ex, so I managed to get him to access the logs and see if she boarded. He told me she didn't.

An ex with access to logs? That is super fishy, she could have convinced him to erase the logs of she ever arrive/boarding the plane.
Stayed there for hours hoping she took another plane? Your ex has access to plane logs, couldn't you just ask him to get the info for you?
Didn't report it because you couldn't believe it? Why didn't you call her husband and ask if she boarded or not. A simple fucking phone call.

They checked the house, it was small, with a living room, 2 bedrooms, a small bathroom and a kitchen. There was a piece of wood with 5 slots for knifes to put in, but 1 slot was empty.
Small house = struggling.
Missing knife? Surely that must be the murder weapon. Let's see what she says about that.

-Missing a knife, miss Brooks?
-Yeah, I don't know where it is the last days... but hell, that's not what I have been worrying about lately...
Worrying about paying rent? Bills? Could be why she killed her sister (yes i am super suspicous she killed her own sister now)

-What about those big, black, plastic bags?
-Oh, I am crazy about recycling, I put anything that can be recycled into those bags and hand them to the garbage truck every week.
-Are there any bags missing?
-Yeah, I gave 5 of them to the truck 2 days ago.
5 bags in a day? That is fishy. Could be her sister's body parts?

-Hmm, alright. Thank you for your time.
-Please let me know if there's anything new! Please find my sister alive!

My questions are:
1. Ask the husband to confirm/deny the red suitcase is indeed his wife's or not (i think its not the wife's suitcase since no one would leave the airport without their suitcase - but ask anyway).
2. Ask the neighbor about the wrench, if he really has it or not (prolly does have it and he borrowed it, but still check).
3. Get results on the evidence found in the mexican airport's bathroom. Is it blood or paint?
4. Ask Martha for her therapist's name and go ask the therapist about martha. Has she really been coming to threapy for 2 years? Did she skip any sessions lately? Any alarming signs?

I can't make a conclusion at this time since more evidence is needed to really convict the murderer. But at this time my spidey senses are telling me that it's Martha with help from her ex.

Andrew tell me if you can/cannot answer the questions I asked above.

Conclusion time: the husband killed his wife. It's a total 180 from my initial assumption. Here is why I chose the husband as the killer:
1. 4 days is too long to sit down and wait when you had no contact with a loved one. There is no excuse for not calling earlier. He was prolly busy killing/burying his wife.
2. He prolly buried his wife in the backyard under that sun clock, since there is no way someone would make a sun clock next to a tree. That'll be stupid.
3. Regarding the possibility that the wife went to mexico and her sister had the logs changed is highly super duper unlikely.
4. The husband lied about the wrench, the neighbor did not borrow it, and it appears that the husband used it as the murder weapon.

Great effort Tony, you never cease to surprise me. As for your questions:

1.Like I said, this can take couple of days. I will post to let you know as soon as we find out about the suitcase.
2.The neighbor says he doesn't remember borrowing the wrench.
3.The SFPD have no jurisdiction in Mexico. They need to send a request to the local authorities, them to go take samples and answer back to San Francisco. This can take weeks. Not possible.
4.It's confirmed that Martha had been attending anger management courses and making some decent progress, but still not done yet.

I would like to point out that although sloppy-ish written(and that is done on purpose), most cases have some clear clues to help solve them. Just like this one, most questions are totally unecessary guys, there is one clue that makes it extremely clear that something is wrong.

Keep it up and there's much more to come.

I'll be reading it a second time when I rest and use my pc, anyway, my point atm is that Martha is suspecious, she had said that she's following a therapy and her mind isn't uhmm on a good conditions. So she can be a psycho too as she can murder her sister and send her to trash throught the plastic bags.
I'll be on Jason lars as soon as I rest, althought he's not stupid to kill his wife for money as she will share it with him, only if she wanted so hard to go back to her old house, in this case if he kills her, would the money go to him? Dunno.
The missing knife is the clue, she surely killed her with it.
I have another idea too, that Jason and Martha are teaming up to kill her, how did jason know it was a murder? And there is a knife missing so that what cought my attention.
Also, they said that loggs can be deleted only from the destination's station, which leads us to mexico right? Ye right, where her ex works there, as if she's reallly mentally disordred she can easily tempt her ex ( bitching ) sorry for that, to eradicate and delete the loggs and make it like she never landed althought she did, so the suspect would be her husband.
I'm kinda tired so I can't find my words.. I hope you got my point.

What puzzled me the most about this case is why would someone build a sun clock right beside a tree, I mean that would shed the sunlight and make the clock useless. This is what made me think that the sun clock might actually be a grave of Linda.
Title: Re: Ambrosia Investigations - Case #2 - The Missing Woman
Post by: YOU.HAVE.FAILED.THIS.CITY on January 29, 2017, 01:46:09 pm
My theory would be that Linda told Jason that she wants to go to Mexico to split the heritage with her sister Martha, and solve the problems between them. Jason loved money, and may have even married Linda for her money, and so he didn't want that to happen. He decided to kill Linda, and he may have used the body's finger to imprint on the papers that state that she transfers all her properties to him (so we may see ink on Linda's finger when the body is found). As usual, below a tree is the best place to dig a grave, and so he burried Linda there. He wanted a way to hide the grave, so he thought about building a sun clock over it, which was actually a stupid idea since that would actually make the clock useless.
I'm also thinking about why did Jason take 4 days to call the police? I'm not sure, but Jason might actually have travelled to Mexico using his wife's luggage, which he left there and went back to San Francisco, in a way to puzzle the police, and point all the fingers towards Martha that she is the one who killed her sister, so we might find Jason's name in the logs of the flights to Mexico from SF in the past 4 days.

Ok, Im reading this on my phone.

What i think:
Her death is benefitial to her husband and her sister.
If he really loved his wife he wouldnt have waited 4 days.
How about that? I think 4 days is enough. He could have gone to Mexico (or wherever her sister was), kill her wife with her own sister, go back home and then delete logs. After that he would call the cops, and he would tell them to dig or search the house because the body was buried on mexico.
About the wrench missing, he could have used it to hit her wife (make her unconscious).

The knife was maybe to chop her bodyparts.

He and his wife had a fight before she was due to leave to airport with him. He hit her with  40LA big wrench on the head as he was enraged. She didn't wake, he realized he had killed her. He took the red suitcase of hers and checked it in airport and went back home. he built the sunclock on that day, where he hid her remains and called the police 3 days later reporting her missing. He must have called her sister shortly before contacting police. He made accusations against his wife's sister which seemed a bit far fetched. Motive could of been the fact that she wanted to sell the house as he was clearly struggling and he was against it which lead to a heated fight. Perhaps she wanted to go to her sister, because of a previous fight and he is a scumbag of a husband, yet he didn't want her to leave.

-Anything so you can find her. Search the whole house, dig the damn backyard, anything I can do for you, just don't break anything.

This line indicates the suspicion of sun dial if broken could reveal his wife's remains. Not to mention that sun dial as City have said, against a big tree is useless. Another factor is that he out of sudden wanted to make it for her as a surprise, but just in one day? If she was missing 4 days and he said he built it 3 days ago.

My theory! end of story!

*Edit

Another version is that he has his tools on nails around the garage. It could of been that the wrench fell off and hit her on the head. He panicked and followed the same pattern as I explained above.

The DNA results and the husband's questioning are over. We now know that the suitcase in Mexico's airport was not Linda's. You need to post your final opinion with clues without any further assumtions before the case is closed.

Then I would not add much to what I've said before. I believe that Jason was fixing something with his wrench, when on the day of her travel, Linda told him that she feels guilty about her sister and that she wants to split the heritage with her when she arrives at Mexico. Jason, because he loves money so much, was against that and started arguing with Linda. The argument got really heated up, that he hit her with the wrench and killed her. I also think as I said before, that he used the fingerprint from the dead body, to transfer all the properties that Linda owns to him becuz if he didn't do that, all the properties would go to Martha. He burried the body under the big tree, and he got rid of the wrench, maybe he burried it with the body. He didn't know how to hide the grave from sight, and so he decided to build a sun dial on top of it, which may the reason why it took him 4 days to call the police. This was the clue that made me think that he's the killer (building a sundial beside a big tree).

I kissed her for goodbye and left
when she was about to check her red suitcase and head to the boarding queue.

-Please find her, I cannot live without her, said Jason while tears were starting to come out of his eyes.
This indicates that he loved her,

they had a big, 2-floor house, and a big garage and a big backyard after it.
and this one that they were living quite good.

Quote
Linda always said we should sell this house and the 2 appartments that her father left on her name and move back to our old house.

Quote
I put it 3 days ago, it was supposed to be a surprise when she'd come back next week
Why not

Quote
-Are you sure?
-I have the records right here.
He isnt quite sure, he tells them that logs convince him.

Quote
-Only after an order from the flight's destination.
If logs were deleted, they were deleted from Mexico, Martha's ex had the power to delete them

Quote
She had... has a good life
Thats a moment of confusion, isn't it?

-I went to the airport few minutes before she was supposed to land, the plane landed, but I never saw her coming out of the gate. One of the airport's supervisors is my ex, so I managed to get him to access the logs and see if she boarded. He told me she didn't.

Quote
They checked the house, it was small, with a living room, 2 bedrooms, a small bathroom and a kitchen.
Another thing that makes it obvious that Martha wasn't that "rich", yet another reason to kill her sister apart from mentioning it herself.

Quote
I would never hurt my younger sister!
What the fuck, why does the younger sister take all the wealth.
(To me seems like not a wery well thought detail, otherwise, a quite good reason to kill her sister)

Quote
-Yeah, I gave 5 of them to the truck 2 days ago.
This is where it gets tricky. The truck comes once a week, it came on 29th, and It should come on 5th of the next month.
Martha is investigated on 31st, and plastic bags handed 2 days ago (31 - 2 = 29 yay math) meaning that she isn't lying.

Quote
For her life insurance?
A reason for Linda's husband to kill her.

And the management issues have nothing to do with this imo, to kill someone for money isnt a "anger management issue", brothers in here kill each other for almost nothing.
But yet another clue that she might have lost it and then kill her sister.

Now, the truck came on 29th and Linda was supposed to arrive on 25th. Martha had plenty of time to destroy all the evidences (ofc if Linda was on the plane), put the body on plastic bags and then hand them to the truck.

My final verdict:
Her husband was wealthy enough, and I believe he did not need her life insurance at all.
I could say that he loved her. Thats a bit suspicious that the police investigation and truck picking up the trash bin happened at the same day, but I guess he would have waited another day to pick up the truck. He had plenty of other weapons to kill her. Furthermore he should have mowed the lawn the same day as he built the clock, grass suggesting that some time passed.

I believe that her sister would take some of the heritage after her sister's death. Furthermore Martha was trying to get the attention away from the knife. She had the possibility to delete the logs (thus making her husband the main suspect, and if her husband is charged, then she would take all the heritage + the insurance)

I found clues that both might be the killer (if she is killed), To me it seems a bit like a cooperation, but the best I am able to prove is:
Martha is the killer.

EDIT:
Quote
but hell, that's not what I have been worrying about lately...
So, she had other things to worry about? Linda's murder for example.

The police returned to the Lars' home, having the evidence they needed.
-Hello again mr.Lars.
-What is it, officers? Did you find who took my wife?
-Actually, we did, and we know what happened to her as well.
-Oh.. you did? And.. who is he?
-I believe we both know the answer, Jason. Here's what happened:
Your small business was not going well, and Linda's life insurance was quite big. So you decided to kill her. It may have been during an arguement when you decided to cross that line, but you probably used the wrench that is missing and hit her on the head. It had blood stains and you didn't wanna risk missing any of them so you just threw it at the garbage outside. You were quite lucky as the truck came by not long after and took the garbage, but you probably planned this great timing as well. We can still find it though. However, the case was all about Linda's body. Where would it be? You tried to lead us to her sister, she has problems so you thought she'd be easy to frame, she had the motive and Linda was about to travel there so there was your big chance, she wouldn't be in a condition to defend herself, a couple of coincidences and ta-da! There's Linda's killer. But the security confirmed noone saw her check in and there were no logs to confirm she took the plane. After you killed her, you had to get rid of the body. So what would you do, what would you do... You burried her here, in the backyard.
-What? That's crazy, I didn't do anything to my wife, I told you you can search the backyard as much as you want. I even reported her disappearance.
-Only to keep the suspicions away, mr.Lars. Because if you hadn't, the eyes would be on you, but you still reported it much later, after you had your time to figure out the plan. Anyway, after solving the first questions it was almost obvious to find out where her body was. Why would anyone put a sun clock next to a tree? The shade would cover it most of the time, what would be its purpose? You knew we might check the backyard but we would never think to check under that clock. It was almost perfect, but you didn't figure out the airport story quite well.
-This is insane, I am innocent!
-Well, there's only one way to be sure.
They removed the sun clock and dug the ground. They found Linda's body inside a plastic bag.
-I... I had no choice.. I... we had so many problems lately and then during a fight I just lost it for a moment... I am sorry, Linda, I'm so sorry.
-Mr.Lars, you're under arrest for the murder of Linda Lars..
Great job all of you, but there's much more to come, stay tuned!
