hey guys, some suggestion about soutbox
the whispering thing seems cool and usefull
but, with every reply on forum we get the notification in shoutbox, and chat is missed. since shoutbox is made for chat, and for new topics and replies we can click on "Recent Unread Topics" and "Updated Topics" buttoms, instead of flooding the shoutbox with those notifications; i would remove notifications from soutbox, and add the whisper thing again

Hey, yeah a perfectly sound suggestion. We are still working on it, but we wanted this for exact same reason you suggest not to have it. We want this feature and i do find it nice, but what we will do is make the shoutbox track certain boards instead of all as it is now. I found it very useful to have it announce someone posting while im chatting away in shoutbox. But again not everything has to be tracked so dont worry we will tune.
The whisper thing is still there, use it exactly appeared in the chat as to write down someones name with an @ before it and : After it thrn your msg. But yes we will add it back we will just make it nicer looking.

@Eros, you could make the topic notifications appear on top of the shoutbox or somewhere else with a different notification sound if it's possible of course .-.

maybe some topics could be announced on shoutbox, but every single reply is a bit annoying... and u miss the chat

Also since it's a forum suggestion, isn't there a way we make letters look a little bit better? it looks fuzzy right now when I open Popup in shoutbox letters start to look nicer than the current ones, it looks like it is zoomed or something the quality isn't that good.

I've never seen in other communities have a feature that spams the shoutbox what thread has been replied to, why not just keep it plain simple and have an js function to update one class on the home page(reccent posts) like the shoutbox is updated when you post a message.

Looks like a good idea, but can you remove the '[this guy] replied to [this topic]'? Maybe leave the '[this guy] posted a new topic' and this only about the posts and stuff in shoutbox, as I feel it'll reduce the amount of unnecessary stuff in shoutbox.

But tryharding to be different if it's in confirmation with everybody else that they don't mind the feature would not had any reason to be criticized, so far I haven't seen one positive impact other than sami saying "Important topics will be noticed/Important users who post will be noticed". There was nothing wrong in this community about missing an important topic or similar problem, not to mention you can just refresh the unread topics.
I'm pointing out the fact that other communities if they choose to have some kind of hotspot for updating information would do it with a different solution than spamming the shoutbox.
P.S: I'm not talking about a singular community, we have serious 4-6 year old communities that have undergo web designing filter like this one did, and the functionality for hotspot information was done in a way to not be intrusive or annoying.

Yeah, shoutbox is flooded with too much info indeed. Especially guys finding drama thread as new spam corner. Quality shit can found there...

True mate true, I got a small idea they will stop SB spamming and at the same time won't remove the notifications, that's if I can do it
Basically since the SB is full width, I thought about deciding it to 2 halfs, one for the chat and the other for the notifications, idk though.. Just an idea atm.
, if I can't then we'll see, SB is actually flooded right now...
Perhaps it wouldn't be flooded if you people didn't spam do mich much, :D

I actually like the feature, lets me know easily which threads are the most active, could put it in a separate tab if possible though.
