Title: How to deal with SCAMMERS!
Post by: Red Wolf on August 16, 2015, 11:01:12 am
Before we start, and before you post anything useless read below:
Lets start! Firstly, make sure you check their profile for +reps, any link and/or any +rep thread. Check on steamrep.com. If you found some +reps on his/her account, still is not safe to trade with him/her as +reps can be bought with cases or even +rep for +rep. I would also check a bit on those who +rep him/her. Whether they are serious people, or just +rep for +rep guys.
It would be good if he/she has a cash rep thread. Its always good.
Then checking csgolounge profile, check if trades are old, or new, in old trades is more likely to find scam comments. But otherwise check csgolounge +reps. Having a conversation with him/her. Firstly, ask him for a middleman, check his/her reaction. If he/she is a scammer, he would not accept a middleman, but there are serious ppl who also dont accept middlemans, so this part depends on the answer he/she gives to you when you ask the reason "why dont you accept a middleman".
Also scammers wont consider going 1st. So you may tell him some things to provoke him. This again depends on his/her answer. Scammers will deny this immediately, while others would delay/ask you other things for your +rep. Prices Scammers will offer you ridiculous prices. Like 1.5$/1.6$/1.7$ per key, or 95%-90% steam market price. Or the opposite, depends who is the buyer and who is the seller. Recently, while I was dealing with a very trusted guy (at least what i thought) I found out he was a scammer.
Using google Yes, google helps you find scammers, you can find his/her profileID anywhere, and then search it on google. Check if he/she has changed names, how frequently, threads you may find in google, steamrep links, or whatever. Risk free Well, most scammers will ask for 1-1 trade, which means not accepting any middlemans or escrow services. Currently I can help you only with bitcoin and paypal. For paypal you can use opskins.com For bitcoin im not sure, i heard from a guy that there is an escrow service in localbitcoins.com, but not sure how it works. I also have another site for bitcoins, almost same as opskins, but accepts only bitcoin. This site is still in beta release and problems may occur.(PM me for site) Well, thats all I had, if you have something else make sure to post on this thread and help others (and me :D) not to be scammed. Oh, and forgot about popular scams, NEVER download anything he/she tells you to. Never "Update" TS (Check other topics for this).
