Don't like the new update of CS? Well i can help by the help of Steam Community!
1. Do you have old CS folder from before update? If you do then great! if you dont do a back up or try and get it.
2. Follow this:
Go to the location where you have the OLD Counter-Strike 1.6, in my:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\nameuser\counter-strike
Copy the counter-strike.
Go to the location where the NEW Counter-Strike 1.6, in my:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common
Remove the Half-Life folder (the new CS).
Paste counter-strike folder, rename "counter-strike" to "Half-Life"
Go to Steam, next Games.
Right-click on Counter-Strike
Go to Properties>Beta, change on "Beta - Beta"
WARNING - Delete everything from "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS".
Fixed, run Counter-Strike, type "version" in the console.
Now it's your version of CS is "2009".
Then if it shows up with "ERROR" restart Steam!
Note - If it updates please do this again or in CS propeties change Update to the other option so it wont auto update!

my username folder is empty... i can not copy my old cs version.....
my fps are 20 now.... i can not even record a demo....

now with your cs folder in my pc i got gldrv folder again, and i can do this step for fix my fps
5.1 If you know your graphics card name, you can ignore this step. However be 100% sure because mistakes may screw up your graphics.
So, if you don't know your graphic card, we'll need to find out. Click here to see ur gphx card : http://i914.photobuc (http://i914.photobuc)...009/Grafika.png
If you have problems findint it through pictures.
Start -> Run -> dxdiag -> Display [ there's Name of gphx card ]
Now you need to find your opengl.dll driver. Im warning you yet again, don't mess with it and follow carefully or it might mess up your graphics.
go to "C:/Windows/System32/ [ find opengl.dll] - if you have ati card [ atioglxx.dll ]
Copy it, and im writing yet again COPY do not transfer / cut it! to your gldrv folder.
(Default steam : C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\"your steam name"\counter-strike\gldrv)
(Default non-steam : C:\Program Files\Counterstrike\gldrv)
Now open your drvmap.txt file (found in gldrv directory where you pasted opengl.dll / atioglxx.dll)
Once the drvmap.txt is opened
change code to - depending on file you selected.
If you used opengl.dll do - gldrv/opengl.dll
If you used aioglxx.dll do - gldrv/atioglxx.dll
Sidenote : On some computers may occur you don't have opengl.dll but opengl32.dll Use that one then
Click save.

right click over your CS game launcher
go to Propierties
search "Launch options"

Please don't c+p things you find in other forums. What you are suggesting is wrong and will result in multiple crashes for users. Not to mention that witht the next update, they will eventually have to switch back to the new directory and sometimes it can be a pain in the ass.

I sense you want to cause an argument, both of the topics as you will see are made by me, so what if i copied and pasted from Steam community? I want to help my friends, problem? 0 care, go complain somewhere else, people are free to do what they want with their CS. You are nobody to tell me or anyone else what to do so please, if you don't need any help but out, thanks.
One more thing, reply with a useless post and i will not reply to you or even better, don't.

My friend, don't get hostile. I was simply trying to explain to you that this "trick", as you like to call it, will cause alot of issues in the near future, if not already. The game needs to be updated, since there are many critical updates on their way. Plus, an inexperienced user who tries to restore the game to the newest directory, can make a big mess instead, thus finding himself in a difficult situation that neither him or you will be able to fix. Also, this is not advised from the steam community, even if it is mentioned. Best of luck. :)
